...to explore your thoughts and feelings
...to make sense of your past and begin to live your life to the full
A warm welcome
People see a psychotherapist or counsellor for many different reasons. Sometimes clients need to work through a specific life challenge, or want to come to terms with a traumatic start in life, or maybe have a course of sessions for personal development.
You set the pace
As a psychotherapy trainee, I offer affordable psychotherapy and counselling. I welcome you to a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space in Central or Western Bath, hence within easy reach by bus or train from Trowbridge, Chippenham and Keynsham. From the first session, I give you the opportunity to collect your thoughts and explore your feelings, at a pace that feels comfortable to you. Space and time to express your feelings can help start a process of self-acceptance and compassion towards where you have been in life. In time, an increased sense of self-worth can give you renewed hope and zest to face your future.
I am experienced in being alongside clients who are encountering challenges with :
- Relationship difficulties, including domestic abuse
- Depression
- Anxiety, stress and panic attacks
- Bereavement and trauma, infertility, baby loss
- Suicidal feelings, self-harming
- Psychological impact of chronic disease, including long COVID
About me
My background is as a qualified nurse for the past 25+ years. As a nurse, building a therapeutic relationship with a client is something I relish, but in today's NHS, opportunities for this are getting scarce. I began to train as a psychotherapist, where this is the essence of our work. I also have fifteen years' experience counselling parents before and after the birth of a baby. Currently, I am in my final stages of training as a psychotherapist.
Practicalities
I work primarily with clients face-to-face, but I also offer telephone sessions. My consulting room in Central Bath is situated in The Practice Rooms, Upper Borough Walls, less than 10 minutes' walk from Bath Spa Railway and Bus Stations, hence within striking distance of Chippenham, Trowbridge, Bradford on Avon and rural areas of Somerset. I also see clients at Fairfield House in Newbridge, on the western edge of Bath; this wheelchair-accessible venue has the benefit of free on-site parking. Because I am passionate about access to psychotherapy for all, I am pleased to offer a visiting psychotherapy service in special circumstances, and by arrangement.
